Yelp 100 Challenge 2018

This is a great place if you want to blow a bunch of money. I mean, I can see why it's such a popular place in terms of the attraction, but honestly, I think the food doesn't live up to the hype. I think it's a cool place for the experience of "gross-eating", but it's something I would try once. Let's crack this open, shall we? *crab cracker at the ready ching ching*

Before even entering the restaurant, there was already a lo-o-ong line of people waiting prior to opening time. I could see lots of people with their families and friends munching on breads and other snacks. That should have been warning number one that this wasn't about filling that belly.

We were seated pretty quickly. Fortunately, we arrived ahead of time sufficiently enough to not need to wait further. The menu was quite straightforward: pick your seafood, add your sauces, and viola. From the get go, the servers told us they were already out of two of the crab items. Which ... is weird to me. It's called the Boiling Crab, and you've JUST opened for lunch. How can you be out of two very common crab items already? Okieeesssss.....

So we order some items. They're pretty quick round 1 to bring out the goods. They come in baggies with sauce inside. They're quite tasty, and the sauces are yummy. You can eat as messily as you want. There's plenty of space, and they provide you with a bib. The lemons are a nice finger sponge to rid yourself of fishy odors. (in case you didn't want your brine-y hands to give away your glorious crab chewing without your friends)

Obviously, the sackets of food weren't sufficient for the price that was marketed. I think most people kind of run into this issue if you didn't load up on the carbs during or before the main event. We ordered a few more things, but this time, round 2 was exceedingly slow. The servers were great in the sense that they were always checking in, but there was no continuity. They didn't know what our orders were, and rightfully so! If you didn't take our order, how can you know what we're still waiting for? It's not a very efficient system because they all said, we'll go check in on your order everytime they come by. They were definitely scrambling once the place will filling up, and things got much more delayed.

We ordered a king crab, and it was literally HALF a crab. For the pricey price it was.

Now, I'm not trying to be snooty or anything, but my family came from the Bay Area. You can definitely go to the market and get a healthy sum of crabs for that price and enjoy carving carcasses out of it. Just saying. This was really expensive for a meal of five, and we're not big eaters.

In sum, it's a fun experience, but not worth the money if your mission is to FILL THAT BELLLEH.
