Eleven teams from nine countries including the US, the UK, France and Germany participated in the first ever foreigner-only hot pot contest held at a hot pot restaurant in Chengdu city, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Saturday. After a chef demonstrated how to make the hot pot base, the contest began. However, participants could not distinguish the seasonings from ingredients, so judges of the contest were stunned to see many of them pouring Sichuan pepper, green pepper, pineapples, curry and meat sauce into the pot to make the hot pot base. The judges could not stop shedding tears after tasting the dishes boiled in the competitors' hot pots, as some said that the taste was different from what they were used to. Copyright 1995 -. Sorry to be so ugly about it. So what’s the best way to have all the caffeine. I would say it depends on the time of day and what sort of person you are.

(The Nosher via JTA) — For generations, Jewish grandmothers have spent hours and hours chained to their stoves perfecting their family chicken soup recipes. The prevailing thought was that the longer the soup simmered, the more flavorful the result.Fortunately for the current generation, technology has created new ways that we can achieve that slow-cooked flavor in a much shorter time frame. With the Instant Pot, or an electric pressure cooker, we’ve cut down the cook time without sacrificing...
