There is a long-standing tradition here at Lawrence Woodmere Academy . What is that tradition. Homecoming is the perfect time for all adults and children to come together to share school spirit. The boy’s soccer team plays Portledge, the dance club performs and all the grades run their booths. There are also a lot of activities for younger children. There are also activities for all ages, such as a pumpkin patch where you get to pick the perfect pumpkin and you can decorate it afterwards. You can also play your chances and try out the mechanical bull pen. The students run a whole variety of booths, from simple carnival games to signing the senior class photo. The Juniors run the popular cotton candy machines , and the Sophomores run a tie-dye booth.
Mary’s Hospital for Children will host its inaugural Autumn Festival on its grounds this Sunday. Activities at the event include pumpkin decorating, face painting, temporary tattoos, arts and crafts and carnival games. There will also be a DJ and multiple live performances at the event, including a show by students from the Queens High School for the Sciences. Attendees can also enjoy food from a hot dog cart and popcorn and cotton candy machines and purchase sweet treats from a bake sale. The Autumn Festival will run from 11 a. m. until 4 p. m. on Oct. admission prices come with tickets to use for activities.
