As the town of Paradise gears up for the sweetest holiday of the year, Joy Lyn’s Candies is busy preparing goods that will be eaten at this weekend’s Chocolate Festival. The family run sweet shop has been under the ownership of the Hartley’s since 2000 and has been an integral part in the annual Chocolate Festival since the event’s inception. Though they are no longer a part of coordinating the sweet celebration that has grown with more vendors and participants, Joy Lyn’s Candies is still a crucial contributor to the weekend celebration. Glenn, the Hartley’s son who works full-time in the kitchen to create the candy goods, was busy early in the week making chocolate shoes for the Chocolate Chase.
