“When humidity levels are low, people tend to experience dry eyes , cracked lips, and irritated sinuses,” says Stephen Canfield, MD, PhD, an allergist at ColumbiaDoctors Midtown in New York City. Plus, if you’re not feeling great, low humidity can make your cold symptoms feel even worse. Humidifiers can take the desert dryness out of your your home by adding moisture to the air, which alleviates irritation and discomfort. There is a lot I like about this time of year football, cool crisp air, and the turning of leaves into brilliant colors. However, there are some things I dread about the change from summer to fall. For one, why is it that so many people get sick about this time every year. Right now, I know a number of people who have had a 24-hour bug or bronchitis. Then there is taking extra measures to assure that I eat right and get adequate sleep.

A humidifier works by pumping moisture into the air in order to counteract the effects of a central heating system, keeping baby’s skin smooth, soft and clear all winter long. According to CNN.com, some studies have even shown that a...
Boy, did I heart Chicago when I moved here on a dazzling afternoon last July. What a great town! Why hadn't we settled here years before? Just you wait, naysayers warned: You won't survive a single winter in that climate. Even those unaware of my warm-weather proclivities spoke balefully of the cutting winds that whipped off the lake, the endless days without sunlight, the bruising spills on icy cement ...All that, and nary a word about the punishing indoor air. As it turned out, the shores...
